How to correct CCS ICD 'Code 0x-- is outside all functions'

I am trying to debug a program that I am working on (18F8722 MCU) that has grown rather larger. One particular new function I am trying to debug online using a break point in the main loop does not step to the function in an external source file.

Any suggestions as to where I should start to fix this?
