PostPosted: Thu Oct 11, 2007 3:54 am     Reply with quote

Hi to Everibody,

I have one question about ID, descriptor and it's use in project. At the moment I developed some demo application based on USB and CCS library. I used descriptor find in for RS232 emulation:

Now I have to start production and my question is:

Can I use the same descriptor without any problem or must I change something in it?
Must I'll buy one ID from USB corporation or there another way to give out my application without spend to mutch money ?

Thanks to help.

If you are actually going to sell and market your product, you require a unique Vendor ID and Product ID, which costs $2000 US dollars. You can, for example, sublicense Microchip's VID and one of their PIDs for considerably less (about $150).

And I believe your product must undergo official USB compliance testing for about $1500, a least if you want to use the USB logo in relation to your product.
