Dear all;
If I want to connect a PIC18F4520 microcontroller with the PC via USB port, do I need to connect an external USB buffer?

Than you

On the 18F4520, you need, a complete USB interface chip, not just a buffer...
This chip doesn't have a USB peripheral built in.
For the 18F45_5_0, you can run with, or without a buffer.

Best Wishes
