Hi,
i'm trying to do an amp meter with a shunt ... while searching on google i found some ic with named Shunt Voltage Reference / Series Shunt Reference.. what is this .. i cant find a proper definition of this IC.
but its using the CS5460 which is a Cirrus Logic chip ... i would like to do the same but without the CS5460 .. since its a student project ... i'm kinda cheap buying IC for project that maybe will not work i prefer sampling but CLogic are samples are difficult to obtain must be with my nearest distributors blablabla ... sad :( this datasheet is more than perfect but its using another brand IC :(((((
What is this application of this ic ?
is this some sort of current sensing ic ??
Thanks !
/me crossing my fingers : i hope this is to amplify shunt voltage to the 5V range of the pic adc or make the circuit more easy to do...
just to precise it's AC current 120V but if you have DC schematics / comments its okay too ... i will try to adapt to AC ;)
Texas Instruments have Current Sensing IC but it's only in the DC -16V to 80 V MAX :(
It is a 2-terminal device that acts like a very precise Zener diode. It tries to draw as much current as it takes to make the voltage equal to the specified reference voltage. Of course this only works if you are feeding this device through something like a pull-up resistor.
