Project file version control
PostPosted: Wed Mar 14, 2007 11:36 am     Reply with quote

Am I the only one who is slightly annoyed when each time I open a project, the project file is modified whether I change anything or not. Even if I just open the project to check the contents of a file, the IDE modifies the project file.

I keep my projects under version control (including the project file) and therefore once I have opened one, version control rightly flags it has having changed. I therefore have to recover an unedited version from version control in order to tidy things up again.

Other IDEs that I use for other tasks do not show the same 'feature' Rolling Eyes
Is there some setting which I should set to prevent this? I'm mostly using Version 4 now although it did the same in version 3.

It probably has a 'last opened' data so whenever you open it, a new date is entered making the file appear as changed. Dont think you can really do to much if thats the case.

Just checked and the actual contents of the file are identical (including white space and everything) - the only thing that changes is the file date and time. Rolling Eyes
