18F2685 and V3.249 |

I really want to move from the 18F2620 (64K) to the 18F2685(96K) because I need the space. I do not want to convert to V4 at this juncture (Not even sure if V4 supports this chip). What is required to add a new part to V3.249? Is it just a header file or does the compiler actually have to change to accomodate the newer chips? Thanks. |

Do you have PCH, or PCWH?.
If the latter, and the peripherals are the same, you can just use the device editor, make a copy of the entry for the smaller chip, and amend the memory amoun on this.

OK, I have PCWH. I copied/edited the 2620 and called it the 2685. Now what? I don't see a new .h file anywhere. Did I miss something? |

You now have to edit the new record that you've made for the 18F2685
so that it reflects the ROM and RAM resources available in the chip.
Do this with the Device Editor. Screen shot:

Also, you need to manually make a copy of 18F2620.H file and
rename it to 18F2685.H. Then, while consulting the PIC's data sheet,
you need to make appropriate changes to the new .H file. |
