While I'm beating up on oscillators . . .
I used to have a dog of a time getting the xtal oscillator to work, even with the caps. Recently I've hardly had any problems, even without caps. I'm wondering if maybe my problems were all with the old 16C84's, and the 16F628's are easier to get going (I didn't keep track), or whether it's just global warming.

I think your problem is in the crystals. Try buying them from another place...here in Bulgaria you'll find the same problem Wink
