16C711 8 or 10 bit A/D |

Hi simple question really, I'm looking at using the 16C711 but the microchip website says it has a 10 bit A/D but the Datasheet says 8bit
Anyone know which it is?
I need the 10bit A/D and ideally want one with the same pinout as the 16C710 as this would mean I could use an existing PCb.
One further question, is there any reason the 16C710 that works fine on a 5V Supply rail wouldn't work on a 3.3V supply rail? I have a board on test at the moment and it works fine on the 5V but as soon as I change the regulator to a 3.3V the Pic stops functioning. I have made all of the adjustments in the program because of the A/D refernce voltage changing (I'm using the supply as the reference). The 3.3V is stable and not oscillating.

Go to the Microchip website and download the "Product Selector Guide".

Go to page 87 in the Acrobat reader. Look at the "Pin and Code
Compatibility Chart". In the upper right corner, there's a chart
of all 18-pin PICs that are basically pin compatible. Some of them
might have additional features on some of the pins, but in terms of
i/o ports, they're compatible. Then choose one of the more modern
parts from the list -- that will be one of the "16F" parts. There's in one
in the list that is commonly used by students these days.
Then go back near the start of the Selector Guide, around page 9, where
they have the specs on the 16F series. Look over in the column for the
A/D. Check if it has a 10-bit A/D. Then you've found your PIC.

Look at this table:
TABLE 11-1: CROSS REFERENCE OF DEVICE SPECS FOR OSCILLATOR
CONFIGURATIONS AND FREQUENCIES OF OPERATION (COMMERCIAL
DEVICES)
From that table, you can see that only the "LC" version of the chip
will run at 3.3v. |
