The other day I read about 01005 resistors. They do exist. You can order 'm at Mouser or Digikey. Length 0.4 mm Width: 0.2 mm. Height: 0.13 mm.

I cannot even image how a machine would be able to place these.

How ?? very,very carefully !!!

I've always been impressed with the machines that make itty,bitty SMALL gold chains

and...

the robots that WELD gold wires INSIDE the ICs ...

also impressed on how bakewells tarts are made, though NO robot to put the cherries on them....HUMANS do that !

I have seen those.
Tiny power rating. I think it was 30mW,
I have manually placed 0201, but I can't even think it remotely possible to
solder these by hand.
You couldn't use these for I2C pull ups, not enough power rating!....
