Does CCS support USB on dsPIC33EP512MU810? |

I'm trying to create a new project that uses SD card and a TFT LCD and I'm wondering if CCS have any support on it. _________________ Electric Blue |

CCS supports all the PIC's as _slave_ devices on USB. But there is no
standard code for 'OTG'. I must admit I tried playing with OTG using the
MicroChip code and after only a couple of experiments decided that the
reason CCS were not supporting it, was just how bad it is....
I used the smaller 806, without issues. |

Did you mean that the hardware is faulty? _________________ Electric Blue |

Implementing USB as a host, requires the USB stack on the controller.
Unfortunately, if you look at the size of the drivers in Windows, you get
an idea of just how many USB devices there are, and the number of
variants. I've yet to find one of the Microchip drivers that 100% works.
Issues with just transactions getting hung, or data loss. Then you switch
to a different slave device and a working driver stops again....
As a slave device it works reliably. I've had applications doing continuous
traffic for dozens of months. For a master I've yet to manage one
fully reliable device. Much simpler and more reliable, add a FTDI
Vinculum. |

Yes.
Every make has slight differences. I'd say if you use the MicroChip
USB host driver for drives only, you may well have perhaps an 80%
chance of getting it working, but I wouldn't put it much above that,
and don't be surprised if you change to a different drive and start
having issues... |
