Anyone know of a driver for the Newhaven LCD in serial interface Mode?

You don't tell s which PIC you're using however it's simple enough. Once you've read that data sheet, use the CCS SPI functions to setup the SPI peripheral for the correct mode, then simply send the appropriate 8 bit data using the CCS SPI 'write' function. The LCD datasheet gives all the 'details' about controlling the module which is nice as it's BOTH 3 volt and 5 volt capable!

Without a module I can't confirm a 'driver' that I create is 100% correct

You need to show us your attempt, then we can see what maybe wrong.

Please be sure to add a delay_ms(500) before you attempt to access the LCD for the first time. This will allow the LCD hardware to powerup properly.
