Start small...

first get the 877 to flash an LED at 1HZ rate...
... this will confirm your hardware is correct
next get the 877 to send 'hello world' to LCD module...
... confirms you've got that 'up and running'
next get a PC connected to the PIC...
... confirm you can send and receive from the PC
now connect the GSM to the PIC...
...

You need to do each step..building knowledge nd getting familiar with the PIC, C and 'how it all works'..

and

be sure to learn the 'search' feature on this forum. Ther's lots of threads about PIC and GSM here, but don't just copy and paste code, odds are real good it won't work first time!
That's why you need to take small steps.

Hi,

Start by reading the forum archives as this exact project - I guess it's a common school assignment! - has been covered many, many times.....

It's not enough to tell you are using a 'SIM900', you've got to post a link to the actual hardware you are using. The basic SIM900 can be directly connected to the PIC, while the. (more common) breakout board mounted version usually has RS232 interface hardware..... We need to know what you've got!

Also, in the Code Library there is a working SMS "driver" by forum user Gabriel.....
