I have bought new ICD-U64, but it is not working. It gives messages such that ‘Download failed’,’ Chip not detected’, ‘verification error’ etc.
Note: ICD-U64 is taking power from target board.
Following are readings of diagnostics window for PIC16F877A and file used is an example from CCS compiler (ex_bootload.c). I have used different blank microcontroller e.g. PIC18F4680, PIC18F452 and PIC16F877A but problem is that I am not able to download code to any of microcontroller.
Software : 4.032
Firmware :2.89
Hardware :Rev2
Target Vdd : 3.5V
Target Device ID:
Read : xx000000000xxxxx
Expect: xx001110001xxxxx
----------- Vss------- Vdd-----Vpp
MCLR---- 4.6V------- 4.6V----4.6V
---------- Vss---------Vdd
PGD------0.73V-------0.76V
----------- Vss---------Vdd
PGC-------4.2V--------4.7V
If ICD-U64 is damaged the How I can repair it, which IC will have to be replaced? |

I know this is an old question but just in case someone else finds it, the ICD-U64 takes power from USB, NOT from your board. You have apparently connected two power supplies together which is a no-no. |
