I wrote a bootloader for midrange pic parts using the CCS compiler,
and also wrote PC application programs which work in concert with it.
All of the source code for the bootloader and application programs
is available on my public source code repository here:
The source code and windows executable can be downloaded as a
tarball from the above URL.
I wrote all of this to solve the shortcomings I saw with currently available
bootloaders:
1. No source code available for the PC loader application programs.
2. No support for the loader application programs Linux.
3. Protocols were not up to the standards I am familiar with and expect.
There are 3 different PC applications in the project
GUI for windows
GUI for Linux
Command Line for Linux
The boot loader in its current form uses slightly less than 1K words of program memory.
The GUI apps were written using the wxwidgets library. This is what makes possible the dual versions of the program for Windows and Linux.
Have Fun,
