Is your project running on some other platform? When I had problems with my project it was like the driver is wrong. But when I sorted out HW and SW problems on the project driver on Win 7 worked like a charm.
I have Windows 7 x32 |

The Vista driver certainly does work for W7 X32.
I'd suggest the same thing as for Vista itself, make sure that you put the driver into a separate location, and point the install at this, rather than pointing the install at the PICC drivers directory, which contains multiple drivers. In the case of Vista, this was 'necessary', or the OS saw the other drivers, and got confused.
