interfacing hyper terminal with program

Hey all,

I have a quick question regarding hyper terminal. To be honest, I'm using windows XP so its actually terminal.exe. I have written a program in my PIC16F690 that sends in some data periodically. I see this data clearly on the terminal window of the PIC so no problems there.

All i want to do now is write a program that somehow 'grabs' this data from the terminal window and does calculations on it and displays the result. What kind of program should I be looking into? I dont know how to use the info that is displayed on the terminal window.

Any ideas?

No good idea, I think. The usual way is to receive the data through serial Windows API. All popular C compilers for Windows are supporting this option. Also other programming languages as Delphi or Visual Basic of course.

P.S.: I forgot to mention, that Hilgraeves HyperAccess, a kind of extended Hyperterminal, has respective automation features. But I still think, that it's more easy to utilize generic Windows programming for your purpose.
