ICD-U64 powering UUT question

I know from here

that the ICD-U64 can (and in fact it does) power my device with up to 200mA. And I know that it can power either 3.3 or 5.0 Volts by using the internal jumper (which appears to be a digital signal to the micro, not a hardware voltage jumper.)

Here's the question. Will the internal power supply withstand a short circuit on the UUT? We've blown a few U64's and my guess is that the 10uF input cap on the UUT is creating a surge current that's causing the failure. It works fine for many units until it doesn't. Anyone have any real data?

Anyone had a U64 repaired?
