problem init_lcd 16x2
PostPosted: Wed Jun 08, 2011 7:04 am     Reply with quote

These problems. I used pic 16F877A and LCD 16x2. When compile my prog is good in simulation (isis professional), but when I realisation in real white circuit, lcd is not working (there are the box in first line)..§§§§§
This is my code:
Code:

#include <16F877A.h>
#fuses HS,NOWDT,NOPROTECT,NOLVP
#use delay(clock=20000000)

struct lcd_pin_map {                 // This structure is overlayed
           BOOLEAN enable;           // on to an I/O port to gain
           BOOLEAN rs;               // access to the LCD pins.
           BOOLEAN rw;               // The bits are allocated from
           BOOLEAN unused;           // low order up.  ENABLE will
           int     data : 4;         // be pin B0.

Problem is not from code. I think the problem is that you must add a resistor to the VEE pin in the lcd (contrast pin) connected to VSS.
Test it and it will work.

The problem came from your program, try this

Code:
#include <16F877A.H>
#fuses XT, NOWDT, NOPROTECT, BROWNOUT, PUT, NOLVP
#use delay(clock = 4000000)

#include "flex_lcd.c"

//==========================
void main()
{
lcd_init();

lcd_putc("\fTesting seif");

while(1);
}

use the LCD driver "flex_lcd.c" instead of "lcd.c"

Code:

// flex_lcd.c

#define LCD_DB4   PIN_D4
#define LCD_DB5   PIN_D5
#define LCD_DB6   PIN_D6
#define LCD_DB7   PIN_D7

#define LCD_E     PIN_D0
#define LCD_RS    PIN_D1
#define LCD_RW    PIN_D2

// If you only want a 6-pin interface to your LCD, then
// connect the R/W pin on the LCD to ground, and comment
// out the following line.

#define USE_LCD_RW   1

//========================================
