Can't read SFR or Peripheral Registers in Debug Mode

I'm new to CCS (used MPLAB, but switched over). I'm trying to debug using the ICD-U64 but I can't read the SFR registers or Peripheral register states back. All the registers are showing up as all zeros but I have definitely set some of them.

Any advice? Are there any special flags I need to enable to get that read back working? Or are there some special steps I might be missing?
