Does anyone have experience running a PIC16F688 (or any PIC for that matter) at a slightly higher frequency than what the specs list? The 16f688 has a max clock speed of 20 MHz. I'm trying to run it off the same oscillator that will be running a PLL frequency synthesizer that is running at 20.4 MHz. It's only a 2% difference. Wondering if it'll work reliably.
I have a 688 running at 32 mhz for the last year. And hasn't crapped out yet. Some 18f parts are running at 54mhz with no problems.
These boards are my stress test boards. Some are running faster some run high currents. this will let me know if I am ok with production units at normal values currents, speeds etc to know I am not near any "walls" that are going to bite me later because I was too close to maximum ratings.
