USB bulk demo driver
PostPosted: Mon Jun 30, 2008 2:54 pm     Reply with quote

I'm running through the USB dev kit tutorial and am having trouble with the bulk demo. I installed the driver, but when I try to run the example the device manager gives me the error "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"

I am running Vista. I cannot find any driver updates on the CCS website. Any thoughts?

The virtual comm port should work. There is a latter 'cdc_NTXPVista.inf', which even works on Vista64, that has downloaded with the compilers for a long time now.

How do I get vista to install the proper driver? I've found the 'cdc_NTXPVista.inf' driver in the PICC/Drivers folder, but when I try to right click and "install" I am told "the INF file you selected does not support this method of installation." If I go to the device manager and update the driver and point it to the Drivers folder I get the same error as before (cannot find the file specified).

EDIT: nevermind. I had to copy the cdc_NTXPVista.inf file to a new folder with nothing else in it and point the device manager to it. It looks like the device manager was still trying to install the old (non-vista) version because both versions were in the PICC\Devices directory. Vista will only let you point the device manger to a directory and not a specific file. Yay vista!
