RS232 on PIC18F87J50

I am using a PIC18F87J50 and the RS232 is not working. I am using the same hardware setup as the PIC18F4550 USB Diagnostic board for the RS232. I also got RS232 working on the PIC18F4550 USB Diagnostic board. On the PIC18F87J50 it does not work properly. Is there a bit setting or something extra that I need to do to get the RS232 on the PIC18F87J50 as opposed to the PIC18F4550 USB Diagnostic board?
