Servo Control
PostPosted: Sun Jan 22, 2006 1:17 pm     Reply with quote

I am having problems getting a servo motor to center properly.

the cervo is approximately 10 degrees off when being centered if it is approaching the center from the left compared to approaching the center from the right.

I understood that these servo's are supposed to be fairly accurate. I am certain the code is correct as I have observed the correct signal on a scope. Can anyone confirm is it is just my sevo that is broken or if they will always approach a different angle depending on which sde they approach from.

Usually R/C servos are manually centered before actual use. R/C control boxes have sliders (in addition to the joystick) to center the servos. My advice whould be to add an offset-adjustment parameter to your contol algorithm and and tweak it untill you are satisfied.

You need to apply more pulses to the servo... I found the same thing and ended up having to give it between 6 and 10 pulses in order to get it to the right place consistantly. The speed that they quote on the servo definitely doesn't take this into consideration.
