LCD displays and pics |

I am working on a project with an LCD. I can connect the LCD to a circuit that utilizes the display in 8 bit mode, and this works. However, when I change it to 4 bit operation it does not work correctly, garbage characters. Is it likely that an LCD display can fail such that it works in 8 bit mode but not in 4 bit mode?
Thanks

I think you should repost this in the "general" forum. Probably get more responses.
It sounds like a small bug in your initialization code to setup the display in 4-bit mode.
When you repost, include the revision number of your compiler, the PIC part number you are using, if your code is short or you can write a reduced size version of your program that exhibits the problem and also list the PIC pins and to which LCD pins they connect. _________________ Rob Young

Thanks for the response, I realized I posted my question to the wrong forum but it was too late. I will re-post on the general site.
Thanks
