ICD - Data In only
PostPosted: Tue Jul 27, 2004 10:48 am     Reply with quote

Is there a way to configure the ICD so that it does not require a bi-directional buffer on the data line (RB7 of a 16F873A)? I'd like to use the ICD to program my target when the cover is on, thru a connector and the way my hardware is set-up the data line (RB7) goes to an input buffer only.

Is there a DLL or API for the ICD software to customize it?

Thanks in advance,

Saycoda

I'm afraid you will have to design the RB7 alias PGD line as bidirectional.
Otherwise you have no chance to verify data that you just programmed.
And without some mean of verification of written data how can one say
it was programmed well?
IMHO there's no designer in the world who would omit the
possibility to check the programmed data in a target IC and would
just let it go to end customer...

VERIFICATION / READ BACK is a MUST in programming anything.

I agree, but unfortunately it would be hard for me to change the hardware at this time and I was planning on using the fucntionality of the unit to verify.
