connect to a modem
PostPosted: Fri Dec 19, 2003 6:42 am     Reply with quote

Hi

I would like to connect a 18f452 to a modem.

How do I go about this? I have seen that there is lots of ideas when doing a search on modem but unfortunately none of them tell me how to connect the modem to the pic.
Please can some tell me how to connect a normal fax modem to a pic?

Many thanks

Hello Delene,
please have a look to the Maxim MAX232 Chip. This is for connecting the rx/tx lines with TTL level (18F452 pin RC6 and RC7) to v24 standard. Also look at www.kabelfaq.de for pin assignment.

Okey. Up to now, I know how to connect to a serial external modem. But what about protocol? How to handle the communication, how to send data using TCP/IP or X(Z)Modem? Thanks very much

Hello,
No problem, please have a look for 'modem commands' at Google and you will find a lot of topics like 'AT commands'.
You can use this commands to control your modem.
Try it out.

All the best for the new year...
