Newbie question: Warp 13 and ICD
PostPosted: Thu Dec 18, 2003 11:25 am     Reply with quote

I have a Warp 13 that I purchased a few years ago to program devices with code written in assembler. I'm now looking to move to programming in C. I'm not familure with the way PIC does ICD so this is probably a dumb question...

If I wanted to do ICD would I need to buy additional hardware or can the Warp 13 do this?

My background is hardware design and I've not yet even written a hello world prog in C. Given this, would it be worth getting the PCW for it's code wizards or start with command line only compiler?

Check their FAQ, on the 2nd question:
http://www.newfoundelectronics.com/warp-13%20faq.htm

To do ICD, you'll need to buy or build an ICD unit.
But be aware that the high-end ICD units sold by CCS
require PCW or PCW-H, etc. If you read this page
carefully, you'll see that they mention this in two places:
http://www.ccsinfo.com/icds.shtml#icds20
And, PCW costs $350 US. So the real cost of CCS ICD
is $35 + $350 = $385. If that's out of your price range,
then you may want to look at Microchip's ICD units.
